About me

Hii, my name is Leonor, Leo for friends. Although my name might sound rather Spanish, I’m actually from Italy. More in detail, I was born and grew up in a small german-speaking region of Italy called South Tyrol. That's why I was blessed with being able to speak Italian and German fluently, as well as learning English in school, and later Russian.

FUN FACT: In South Tyrol we speak a dialect, which is very different from regular German, however, in school we speak regular German.

I could talk endlessly about my hometown, but you’re probably here to learn more about me, so let me find some interesting facts to tell you.

Firstly, my parents named me after my great grandmother Eleonora. My mom told me she always liked her name, but thought it was too long, so they decided to “cut out the heart” of the name. Might sound a little macabre, but anyways…

Also, I might be a terrible driver. It took me sooo long to get my drivers license, because I just wasn’t capable of driving. I’m more of a theoretical person and also rather a perfectionist, that’s why I wasted millions of tears of frustration on driving. I have to admit I also had quite a strict mentor, who put even more stress on me (sorry Dad, but it's the truth).

My Dad is terribly afraid of flying, which is why we never took a plane to go on family holidays. He is a passionate driver (that's why he made me go crazy when practicing for my drivers license), so he always drove to any destination. This way we almost never went to any place outside Italy, except for Austria and Germany. Since I suffer from a german word called “Fernweh”, last year I decided to start exploring the world on my own. It was quite hard, since I still went to school and was financially very dependent , but I managed on some extent to visit at least a few places.

The literal English translation of "Fernweh" is "far-sore" or "farsickness." The word describes one’s longing for distant places, a yearning for travel.
It’s the desire of exploring the world.

The first trip I ever made without my parents, by plane AND in another country was a girls trip to the island Pag, Croatia. Now, it was in fact more of a party trip than an exploring trip and it ended up in quite a disaster, but it provided lots of fun and precious experiences anyways. After this trip I also went to Prague twice.

I never exactly knew what I wanted to do after finishing school, whether I wanted to continue studying or not. Since forever the thought of simply flying far away, exploring distant destinations  and meeting new people had been wandering through my mind. So, when my friend and I stumbled across Worldpackers we took it as a sign and decided to try and take a shot. I am very excited to see what kind of adventures we will encounter and memories we will make.  I’m eager to meet interesting people, different cultures and worldviews and let it be an inspiration for me. I want to bring you with me all along and can‘t wait to share everything with you! :))
